Primarily self taught, abstract artist maría moreno has cultivated her own unique style by honouring her instincts and challenging the limitations of conventional practices. Working mainly with acrylic, maría's paintings are rich with texture and sharp in contrast, traversing from the political to the natural and beyond. Born in the Canary Islands and having grown up in Venezuela, maría's use of colour and shape are intrinsically linked to the countries of her childhood. As a result, her artwork is visceral and boundless, a passionate embodiment of her own personal experiences. maría has participated in solo and group exhibitions at both national and international levels, and her paintings are held in private and corporate collections in Canada and South America.
Being face to face with the canvas is all about emotions and decisions. Each painting starts as an unknown destination. Always: I choose strength over gentleness, audacity over caution, chaos over order, expression over silence.
The final outcome? Intimate conversations where no words are necessary, my paintings tell my story.
